Originally from a small village in the North of France, Joë Christophe began learning the clarinet at the age of seven in a free music school with Adrien Delattre, thanks to the municipal band that lent him his first instrument. After perfecting his skills in Valenciennes and Paris with Caroline Delmotte and Olivier Derbesse, he entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris in 2015 and completed his studies there under the expert guidance of Philippe Berrod, clarinet soloist with the Orchestre de Paris, and his colleague Arnaud Leroy.

A recent winner of the ARD International Music Competition in Munich and just finishing his studies at the Paris Conservatoire, Joë Christophe has already been invited by numerous orchestras and festivals to perform on the greatest international stages.

Winner of the 2017 Autumn Music Festival for Young Performers and the Safran Foundation for Music 2018, he is already regularly invited by groups such as the Orchestre de Paris, the Orchestre National de France, the Orchestre National de Lille, Les Dissonances... and performs as a soloist with numerous orchestras such as the Münchner Kammerorchester and the Münchner Rundfunkorchester, the Collegium Musicum Basel, the Transilvania State Philarmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre Pasdeloup, the Orchestre de chambre Nouvelle Europe, the Orchestre de la Police Nationale and the Orchestre de la Garde Républicaine.

His career as a classical musician has led him to perform in some of the most prestigious concert halls in Europe, such as the Philharmonie de Paris, the Opéra Garnier, the Konzerthaus and the Philharmonie in Berlin, the Konzerthaus and the Musikverein in Vienna, the Prinzregententheater and Herkulessaal in Munich, the Stiftung Mozarteum in Salzburg, the Musiktheater Basel and the Tokyo International Forum, under the direction of renowned conductors such as David Zinman, Alain Altinoglu and Sir Simon Rattle.

At a very young age, he was interested in the diversity of musical genres and rarely missed the opportunity to play jazz, contemporary, and to explore traditional gypsy and klezmer music, with the famous Sirba Octet ensemble in particular.

In the summer of 2019, he won the 1st Prize at the Club International Music Competition (Romania) as well as the 1st Prize and no less than 6 special prizes at the ARD International Music Competition in Munich, which definitively launched his career as a performer.

In 2020 he was invited to the Stars Von Morgen programme presented by Rolando Villazón and in 2021 he is also invited to the Debüt im Deutschlandfunk Kultur programme in Berlin. He will perform as a soloist at the Berlin Philharmonic accompanied by the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, conducted by Elena Schwarz.

His first disque compact will explore the beautiful colours of the French and English repertoire for clarinet and piano; it will be released at the end of the 2020-21 season on the Genuin Classics label with his friend Vincent Mussat.
