Jerry Bergonzi began playing the clarinet at the age of eight in Boston, listening to Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Lester Young. At the age of 12, he bought his first saxophone.

Very quickly, the young musician played concerts with his band: The Stardusters. In college, he changes his viola for a tenor and takes weekly classes at the Berklee College of Music. At the beginning of the seventies, he lives in New York City and gains international popularity which allows him to play all over the world.

At the end of the 70's, he returned to Boston where he played five nights a week in clubs including Michael's Pub. In the early 80's, Jerry played concerts around the world with the Dave Brubeck Quartet, then began teaching at the New England Conservatory and gave more and more Master Classes.

In 1997, he received a Grammy Award in Denmark for "Best Jazz Recording of the Year". Today Jerry continues to play and teach all over the world.
